Purpose of the position
a)    To design and support development of engine and engine subsystems as per business requirement
b)    This position is holder is actively involved  throughout design and development cycle of engine function (from concept to launch and post SOP period to support final product throughout its life cycle)
Dimensions of the position
Engine Integration on vehicle(of one engine family) as per application and Engine sub-system design (3-4 reporting team members, either direct or indirect)

Personal Profile
Education: BE/B.Tech, ME/MTech (Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics)
(ME/MTech will be preferred)
Technical Skills1.Fundamentals of core engine design & peripherals
2.Excellent understanding on GD&T, Tolerancing & drawings
3.Hands-on CAD software skills (Pro-E, CATIA, CREO)
4.Analytical Skills     
Relevant Experience :
Min 3 years of experience in Engine Design

Knowledge Required:
1.Engine and Sub-systems design and application for Automobile Engineering 
2.Knowledge about Engines integration on vehicles
3.Manufacturing process of Engine and Sub-systems 
4.Software used for CAD like ProE-Creo and PLM
5.Familiarity on various government regulations related to powertrain and automobiles
6.National and International standards used in design 
7.Design of Mechanical Systems like Crank Train, Valve train etc including GD & T application and technical drawings

Education

Work Experience

Key Responsibilities:
1Timely Integration of engine and engine sub system design on vehicle platform design for new vehicles or variants to achieve timely launch of the vehicle by following the plan of all design releases and validations 
Receive DID(design Input document),DDP( Design development plan), Vehicle Tech. specification AND  CAD data for packaging at DR0/DR1/DR2
Delivery of Engine and subsystem design to be Integrated on vehicle in CAD and PLM At DR1 updated Up to DR2
Represent project review meeting monthly/weekly as per project 
Support activities required for Engineering Sign Off like. Preparation of Change part list, DFMEA, support CAE analysis etc at DR4
To interact with suppliers for getting components with specified design, conforming to applicable norms, with latest technology within project constraints by benchmarking, understanding customer expectations and recent trends & technology.
Initiate and Complete design releases as per defined project plan by either preparing design
Contribution to prepare DVP(Design Validation Plan) for part level design to systematically carry out testing and calibration activities by providing design inputs, predictive analysis, durability parameters, benchmarking, field issues and collaborating with Development and Calibration teams
Analyse the failure occurred during validation &  accordingly modify the design at each stage
Development activities such as SORs/TRSOs/TKO  for newly designed parts to inform concerned internal stakeholders 
Design Modifications based upon testing and manufacturing feedback     Timely releases of design as per project gateways
2Value engineering to improve profitability of business by providing alternate solutions on material or design change by 
Material change in consultation with metallurgy team or benchmarking team and using CAE(Computer Aided Engineer) for critical parts 
Design modifications like weight reduction, change in thickness 
Maximise use of standard/existing designed parts 
Support in developing alternate suppliers
Cost Reduction on Engine through Value Engineering
3Provide design solutions to address field issues  and implementation of solutions for new projects to avoid such failures in future projects by root cause analysis, Design Modifications and design releases
IPTV/PPM
PCA( Permanent Corrective action)=90 days for 80% of issues related to design
4Identify unique opportunity in specific design or process change to improve/enhance performance of engine, durability and serviceability of engine
By Benchmarking, Research, brainstorming, supplier visit / Tech day 
Deliberate on the ideas explored with the team, 
Get the design simulations validated post an idea is finalised.
Prepare documents to complete the IPR filing       Enhance IPR portfolio for culture of invention & development of Engineering knowledge & solutions.
5Understand and following design checklist in WCQ framework to achieve world class quality levels in Engine design      A per WCQ
6Provide appropriate solution on issues  raised by production and Quality teams to streamline the production activities by interacting with concerned stakeholders and analysing the production issues along with design modification solutions    100 % resolution of the Production support requests.
