The role is responsible for Planning, monitoring and execution of Shop Quality; responsible for BIW quality, control plan and day to day quality issues analysis and resolution

Key Responsibilities:

1    BIW Quality
•    Apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products
•    Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.
•    Manage and direct statistical process control activities
•    Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis
•    Identify sources of variation within a production environment effectively and efficiently
•    Establish tolerance limits and facilitate appropriate corrective actions
•    Establish and monitor quality target levels for each build
•    Provide input for design and assembly concepts which will yield nominal variations
•    Establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods
•    Determine inspection equipment and facility requirements
•    Support expedited concern resolution with cross functional teams including the Quality Department, Production and Suppliers
•    Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristics process compatibility
•    Review incoming quality concerns to maintain quality with assigned area; must have experience with initiating containment, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions
•    Responsible for overall ISO/QS/System for Shop
•    Need to ensure smooth function of all system across the shop.
•    Coordinate for various System audit by external team and conduct internal audit in shop.
•    Responsible for Non-confirming closure in shop.
•    Should have knowledge of Q7 tools, concept of G8D and other problem solving tools. 
•    Shall drive and implement break though improvements in Quality.
•    Shall implement requirement of QS9000 and ISO. Compliance to QOS to be ensured.
•    Validate Change implemented Product Engg. changes related to the production zone.
•    To support teams to implement Kaizens, cost saving suggestions and facilitate team’s projects.
•    Plan for employee training, engagement and development.•

2    New installations Management
•    Provide technical specifications to the Planning team prior to procurement of fixtures and gauges
•    Conduct technical assessment (provision for insurance spares, warranty, service support etc.) on Request to Quote (RFQ) bids received from the supplier and provide feedback to the Planning department prior to commercial negotiations and vendor finalization
•    Participate in DAP (Design Approval Process) discussions and finalize the fixtures locating strategy
